NJ Realtors® Testifies in Support of Bill S2580 The Senate Community and Urban Affairs Committee met this week and NJ Realtors® Director of RPAC and Regulatory Affairs Bruce Shapiro testified in favor of bill S2580. In his testimony, he emphasized New Jersey Realtors® long-standing position and support for Sen. Bucco and Sen. Singleton in their efforts to move this bill forward. The committee approved S2580, which amends certain fire safety statutes to update licensure and equipment requirements and liability, fee, and penalty provisions. Specifically under this bill, smoke-sensitive alarm devices must meet requirements established by the Commissioner of Community Affairs, and the requirement for portable fire extinguishers in certain structures at the time of sale is eliminated. The bill still must be approved in the full Assembly and Senate before reaching the governor’s desk. |
