New Bill to Encourage Homeownership in New Jersey
This week, the Assembly Housing Committee passed A-5246, which will mandate New Jersey Housing Authorities that utilize Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Programs to maintain rental programs and use the funds for homeownership programs.
Instead of going towards rent payments, recipients could use the vouchers to pay their mortgages. This bill will help more residents achieve the American Dream of homeownership and create generational wealth for their families. New Jersey Realtors® will continue to monitor this bill as it progresses through the State Legislature.
